This camp is specifically designed for students who have never taken a music lesson and are unsure about which instrument to play. The program dedicates each day to exploring a different instrument, including piano, guitar, drums, and more. At Westmont Music Academy, we offer lessons for nearly every instrument, and during this week-long camp, participants will gain hands-on exposure to many of them. By the end of the week, your camper is sure to discover their favorite instrument! This camp promises to be a fun and enriching experience for everyone involved. As a special offer, those who sign up for regular lessons after the camp will receive free book and have their registration fee waived.

Piano Camp

This beginner-only piano camp is designed to introduce young students to the joy of music in a fun, engaging, and encouraging environment. Campers will learn the basics of piano playing, including proper posture and hand position, simple note reading, rhythm, finger coordination, and introductory melodies—all presented in an age-appropriate and easy-to-understand way. In addition to learning music, students will participate in piano games, rhythm activities, and creative musical crafts that reinforce concepts while keeping learning exciting. By the end of the camp, students will be able to play several familiar songs and feel proud of their progress, building confidence and enthusiasm to continue their musical journey. As a special offer, those who sign up for regular lessons after the camp will receive free book and have their registration fee waived.

Sam

Sam is an in-demand teaching artist and clinician in the Chicagoland area, who specializes in woodwinds and piano. His teaching styles include a wide range of genres ranging from classical and romantic music, to more contemporary forms of early American music and jazz. While receiving his performance degree at NIU, his musical emphasis was in African-American studies, and he now regularly clinics for jazz programs at high schools and colleges in the greater Chicago area. So far in his musical career, Sam has toured with and performed with Wilco, Rachel Barton-Pine, Paquito D’ Rivera, Ernie Watts, Victor Wooten, The Wooten Brothers Band, Wycliffe Gordon and others. His personal band has also performed privately for actors including Zac Efron, Dennis Quaid, and Heather Graham. He regularly performs at music festivals including Summercamp & Summerfest during May and July.
